Book Study: What is Reformed Theology?

In just a few weeks, we will be hosting a book study of R.C. Sproul’s What is Reformed Theology? Understanding the Basics. We’ll discuss the fundamental beliefs that rose from the Protestant Reformation. Though we are 500 years removed from the Reformers, their rediscovery of the gospel and a God-centered theology profoundly impacts us today.

As we read the book together, we will learn about the nature of God, the nature of humans, the sovereignty of God, the atoning work of Jesus Christ, Scriptural Authority, Covenant Theology,  the “Golden Chain of Salvation”, and the Five Points of Reformed Theology.

Make sure to order the book and read each section prior to the meetings. You can order online at Ligonier Ministries or Amazon.

I’ll close with the publisher’s description of the book. We hope you will join us on June 14, 21, and 28 for our book study.

Many have heard of Reformed theology, but may not be certain what it is. Some references to it have been positive, some negative. It appears to be important, and they’d like to know more about it. But they want a full, understandable explanation, not a simplistic one.

What Is Reformed Theology? is an accessible introduction to beliefs that have been immensely influential in the evangelical church. In this insightful book, R. C. Sproul walks readers through the foundations of the Reformed doctrine and explains how the Reformed belief is centered on God, based on God’s Word, and committed to faith in Jesus Christ. Sproul explains the five points of Reformed theology and makes plain the reality of God’s amazing grace.
