Acts: Spirit Empowered Mission

This Sunday we begin our new series “Spirit Empowered Mission.”  It is a chapter by chapter, verse by verse, study of the New Testament Book of Acts. Come and join us as we see the power of God fill His people, His Church, and lead them to proclaim the good news of the gospel. King Jesus is the promised Messiah who died on the cross according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God and now has risen from the dead. And all those who believe in him will not perish but have everlasting life, that is the mission.

Mark Driscoll said “There are two ways to approach history: as a scholar or as a soldier. Scholars read war history because it’s an interesting subject for study; soldiers read war history to learn how to fight. When it comes to the church and our role in the battle unfolding between the kingdom of Jesus and the powers of Satan, we need fewer war historians and more warriors. We find this in the book of Acts.”  Acts picks up where the gospel narrative leaves off, but God is continuing his Mission. The work of Christ is done, but the story of God’s great plan of saving souls is still unfolding. We are the ones on mission now! Jesus is alive and wants us to participate in the work of building His Church.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
